A personalised welcome, all year round
The Port Museum welcomes groups all year round (except Mondays). Our team is on hand to help you plan your visit.

Discover boats, maritime communities and the people in them...
A visit to the Port Museum is a walk in the footsteps of the men and women whose lives have revolved around the sea, the coast and the rivers... Through a guided tour of the permanent collection, you can discover the local history of Douarnenez and the universal nature of maritime cultures. From the Breton port-abri harbour to the Aveiro Lagoon in Portugal, from fishing to fun, from the Netherlands to Taiwan, from the shores of Africa to those of the Pacific, the museum tells of humans and the sea, from near and far.

Welcome aboard
The Port Museum allows visitors aboard some of its moored boats: a unique offer in France. Discover this moored collection, around extensive wooden piers, in the enchanting setting of the ria of Douarnenez's Port-Rhu. An artisanal sand barge, an old British steam tug and a Norwegian coaster are presented through a combination of sound and images,

For an open (unguided) visit, allow two hours to explore all of our spaces, and at least three quarters of an hour for a partial visit.
