Reserve collection

The Port Museum has 4500m2 of reserve collections in external storage. They contain more than 10,000 items (marine carpentry tools, cans, net tags, etc.), over a hundred models of boats and around 250 boats.
The reserve collection is the hidden part of the “iceberg”, often unknown to the public. Behind the scenes, there is constant activity: enriching and inventorying the collections, preservation and restoration, preparing item loans to other institutions, managing storage spaces, hosting researchers, and volunteer work.
Every object is inventoried with a rigorous identification record: name, designation, makers, materials, weight, size, date of arrival and state. All these details are systematically included, checked and recorded. The inventory is a valuable resource for knowledge and memory.
